Biography

Leslie Moore, born in Cardiff 1913, was a popular and prolific painter. His subjects were many and various and he painted with passion and with enormous enjoyment. Like most of his generation he was a romantic artist. Space and resonance were among the personal elements of his lively approach.

Leslie drew his stimulus from the world around him. As art advisor he travelled the whole of the county of Glamorgan which, until the revision of the counties of Great Britain, was three times as large as it is now. Leslie knew the hills and valleys, the industrial and farming areas of his county in great detail.

Leslie’s work found regular places in the Public Galleries and Museums of Wales and in private collections.

Currently in stock are a series of beautiful pen and ink works, drawn whilst serving in the Royal Artillery Corps in Italy in 1944.

Bywgraffiad

Bu Leslie Moore, a anwyd yng Nghaerdydd yn 1913, yn artist poblogaidd a cynhyrchiol. Roedd ei destunnau yn eang ac yn niferus ac roedd yn peintio ag angerdd a mwynhad. Fel y rhanfwyaf o'i genhedlaeth, roedd yn artist rhamantaidd. Roedd gofod a cyseinedd yn elfennau personol o'i arddull bywiog.

Cai ysbrydoliaeth o'r byd o'i amgylch - yn enwedig mynyddoedd a dyffrynoedd Morgannwg, wedi iddo ddod i'w adnabod yn dda drwy ei waith fel cynghorwr celf.

Mae gwaith Leslie yn ran o gasgliadau yr Amgueddfa Genedlaethol ac mewn nifer o gasgliadau preifat,

Mae ein stoc diweddaraf yn gyfres o weithiau pen a inc a wnaed tra'n ymladd fel rhan o'r 'Royal Artillery Corps' yn yr Eidal yn 1944.
