Patricia Aithie
Patricia Aithie was born in Cardiff in 1957 and studied at Cardiff and Canterbury Colleges of Art before taking a studio in Aberdeen. During the 1980’s Patricia spent nearly six years living and travelling in the Middle and Far East, where she exhibited her paintings widely. She has continued to travel, particularly in the Middle East which is a great source of inspiration for her work. She works from her studio in Wales and has exhibited extensively throughout Britain.
“My work stems from personal observation and direct experience of particular environments. However, concrete ideas and motifs only develop during the act of painting. I use suggestion and expression to emulate essential elements of a subject, often using symbolism and colour to evoke emotion."

Ganwyd Patricia Aithie yn 1957. Astudiodd yng ngholegau celf Caerdydd a Canterbury cyn gweithio mewn stiwdio yn Aberdeen. Yn ystod yr 1980au treuliodd bron i chwe mlynedd yn byw a theithio o amgylch y Dwyrain Canol a'r Dwyrain Pell, lle yr arddangosodd ei gwaith ar hyd ei thaith. Mae'n parhau i deithio - i'r Dwyrain Canol yn enwedig, sy'n para'n ysbrydoliaeth i'w gwaith. Mae'n gweithio o'i stiwdio yng Nghymru ac yn arddangos ledled Prydain.
'Mae fy ngwaith yn dod o arsylwadau personol a phrofiadau uniongyrchol â amgylchedd penodol. Er hynny, datblyga fotiffau cadarn drwy'r weithred o beintio. Defnyddiaf awgrymiadau a mynegiadau i greu elfennau hanfodol fy mhwnc, gan ddefnyddio symboliaeth a lliw i greu emosiwn.'
